Bowling lane installation: Flying completed Dubai Boll Lucena's full center revamp, installing six brand-new standard lanes for superior play, safety, and durability. Explore project highlights and services.
Dubai Boll Chooses Us Once More!
Dubai Boll Lucena has upgraded to 6 high-tech Flying Bowling lanes in its newly renovated center in Lucena, Spain. The lanes offer precision, fast ball returns, and a modern experience. The revamped facility also includes a kids' park, VR, and arcade machines, enhancing its appeal as a family entertainment hub.

We’ve had the pleasure of installing 6 Flying Bowling Classical Standard tracks at their brand-new facility on Cam. las Fontanillas. This completely transformed center, which relocated from Lucena Plaza Shopping Center in Córdoba, Spain, boasts increased space, expanded possibilities, and a fresh, modern approach to family entertainment.
These new lanes offer a modern, streamlined bowling experience with high precision and minimal energy and maintenance costs. Thanks to their string pinsetter system, the lanes are compact, efficient, and guarantee accurate pin placement (≤8mm deviation). The ball return system takes just 15 seconds, while all machinery is operated via an intuitive touchscreen LED interface, making the experience smoother and more enjoyable for everyone.

Why choose these lanes?
Because they are compact, robust, and cost-efficient — the perfect solution for venues looking to offer high-quality bowling with low technical hassle. Their quiet operation, fast cycle time, and sleek design provide a cutting-edge experience for players and operators alike.

Interview with José María, Manager of Dubai Boll Lucena
⦁ What led you to install 6 Standard lanes in this new Lucena location, and what are your expectations in terms of visitors and business positioning?
"We had previously operated a bowling center in Lucena Plaza, and it went well, but the equipment was outdated. Now, we’re launching with brand-new generation lanes. We also have a larger space and better operating hours, and we plan to include more attractions like a kids’ park, virtual reality, and arcade machines… and of course, the 6 bowling lanes. These are truly impressive. There’s a nearly 25-meter-wide LED screen across the front of the lanes, and the final result is just stunning."

⦁ What made you choose to work with our team again for this second project?
"Lucena has always been a strategic town for us, especially due to its proximity to Jaén, which is our base. So when the opportunity came up, we had no doubts about working with the Flying team again—our past experience with them has been very positive."
⦁ How would you describe the experience of this new installation process?
"Overall, it went very quickly. The project took less time than before, which made it smooth both in timing and execution."
This new venture reflects not only a technological upgrade but also a bold commitment to making bowling more visual, immersive, and fun for all generations.

Bowling Equipment
What basic equipment is needed for bowling?
Bowling needs lots of equipment, but the most important parts are the fairway boards and the string pinsetter equipment.
How to maintain the mechanical equipment of a bowling alley?
Fairway boards and equipment require regular maintenance. Fairway boards need to be oiled every half month and cleaned daily to extend their service life. At the same time, the condition of the rope and ball return machine needs to be checked every period of time to ensure the normal operation of the equipment. Specifically, we will give you detailed maintenance manuals and videos to teach you how to maintain.
What is duckpin bowling equipment?
Duckpin bowling equipment is a more adaptable bowling lane. Duckpin bowling has a smaller lane size, and the smaller ball has only two finger holes, whose pins are shorter and lighter than traditional bowling pins. Standard 9.2-meter short lane, which is more suitable for a variety of miniaturized sites. In addition, it can improve the hit rate of players in bowling, so that players can have more fun and fulfillment.

How a bowling ball return machine works?
A bowling ball return system uses a combination of gravity, belts, and sometimes lifts to bring your ball back to you after your roll. Here's a breakdown of the typical process:
-
Ball Exit: After rolling down the lane, the ball exits into a channel at the end. This channel might have a slight incline to help guide the ball towards the return mechanism.
-
Transfer Tray: The ball rolls into a shallow tray or trough. This tray might have a diverter at the end to ensure balls from adjacent lanes don't collide.
-
Elevator or Incline (optional): In some setups, the ball might be lifted to a higher level before entering the return system. This creates a steeper decline for the ball to travel down, helping it gain momentum.
-
Belt Conveyor: The ball reaches a conveyor belt with a textured surface to prevent slipping. This belt carries the ball up an incline.
-
Gravity Channel: Once at the top of the incline, the ball is released onto a long, U-shaped channel. Gravity takes over, pulling the ball down through the channel.
-
Ball Deflector: At the end of the channel, there might be a deflector that diverts the ball slightly towards your lane. This ensures the ball ends up in the correct return slot.
-
Ball Return Tray: The ball finally reaches a tray or cradle positioned in front of your lane, ready for your next roll.
Here are some additional points to note:
- Modern systems might have sensors to detect the presence of a ball and activate the return mechanism accordingly.
- Some higher-end systems use quieter materials and designs to minimize noise during ball return.
How many lanes does it take to open a bowling alley?
There's no strict rule on the number of lanes required to open a bowling alley. It depends on your business goals and target market.
Here's a breakdown to help you decide:
- Small niche alleys: Some bowling alleys might focus on a specific audience, like a boutique bowling alley with just a few lanes catering to a high-end clientele. They might have other revenue streams besides just bowling, like a fancy restaurant or bar.
- Traditional bowling alleys: These typically have many lanes, often around 8 to 24 lanes , to accommodate a larger number of bowlers and maximize revenue through lane rentals.
- Mini bowling: Certain alleys might offer mini bowling, which uses lighter balls and shorter lanes. This could be a good option for a family entertainment center and wouldn't require a large number of standard lanes.
Ultimately, the number of lanes is a business decision based on your target market, budget, and the overall experience you want to create.
